Thank you so very much for sharing Karen’s story, and I’m deeply sorry for your loss. Karen’s loving spirit reminds me of my late brother-in-law. He passed away from ALS two years ago….but his spirit; a spirit of kindness, love and Grace remains. I hope and pray for a cure for this devastating disease….for those individuals given the devastating diagnosis that their lives will be cut short…and for the family members, who now have to continue to live their lives with an emptiness in their hearts. ❤️🙏

I walked this journey 19 Years ago with my late husband he was 42 when he passed away and only lived 20 months. Horrible, horrible disease, it doesn't seem like the care has gone too far. Sounds keep sending me the videos. I will watch them. I will also pray for the people that are diagnosed with ALS and their partners.

The ALS Association did nothing for my father except expect us to drive from Louisville to Lexington for them to look at him. He was a veteran and the VA didn’t do much either. My sister, our mother and I did around the clock care for him for over 2 years. I could remove his trachea tube, clean it and have it back in before he drew another breath. He had the oxygen breathing machine, catheter, feeding tube. When he passed after being flat on his back for over two years, he had a tiny sore behind right ear. No bed sores any where else.

What a horrible diagnosis yet what a huge blessing to have so many people love you. Love is an action and helping someone in need is an action.

I love the ALS Association (now ALS Northwest) too! Thanks to them my mom was able to live a fulfilling life after diagnosis and experience a dignified death. We couldn’t have navigated all the systems without the team at ALS Northwest 💕

Very interesting! I realize it's a little late to ask questions but... 26:30 in the Shuffle Speller paradigm, is this used with subjects who look to the different boxes by moving their eyes? If so, can't eye tracking be used instead? Or is this used with subjects who can't move their eyes, in which case apparently the particular flashing light next to the attended letter box appears in the EEG solely by virtue of subject attention, despite all the flashing lights impinging on the eye? That's pretty amazing!
